Eagles make Jalen Hurts IR decision as QB’s return timeline from blood clot remains uncertain

Philadelphia placed quarterback Jalen Hurts on injured reserve Saturday after doctors confirmed a superficial blood clot in his leg, guaranteeing he will miss at least the next four games. The move follows Hurts’ calf issue that was first noted after the Oct. 4 loss to the Los Angeles Rams at Lincoln Financial Field.

The Eagles, now 2‑3 and coming off three consecutive defeats, will turn to third‑year Stanford graduate Tanner McKee for the Week 6 contest against the Carolina Panthers. The decision adds to a growing injury list that already includes the sudden retirement of tackle Lane Johnson, the recent trade of lineman Cam Jurgens, and missed time for skill players Saquon Barkley and DeVonta Smith.
