The NFL’s international games are taking a noticeable toll on pregame show viewership for Fox and CBS, as last Sunday’s delayed and extended Eagles-Jaguars matchup in London disrupted early-afternoon broadcasts. The game, which kicked off at 9:30 a.m.
ET but stretched past 1:15 p.m. ET due to multiple penalties and reviews, left viewers scrambling to catch up with the noon pregame shows.
Fox NFL Sunday saw a 14% drop in ratings, averaging just 3.797 million viewers—down from a season-high 4.967 million in Week 1—while CBS’s *The NFL Today* fell 11.5% to 2.818 million. Even Fox NFL Kickoff, typically more resilient, hit its lowest season average of 1.123 million, continuing a downward trend from earlier weeks.
The impact was most pronounced on CBS, where ratings have declined steadily since Week 3, while Fox’s numbers also dipped after a Week 4 London game between the Colts and Commanders. With more 9:30 a.m.
ET kickoffs scheduled in Weeks 6 and 7, networks may struggle to recover unless the games conclude earlier than expected.
