The Philadelphia Eagles have added depth to their backfield by welcoming former player Ja’Quinden Jackson back to the organization. Jackson, who was previously signed to the 90-man roster on August 10 amid a wave of running back injuries, was waived with an injury designation on August 24 after a concerning incident during the preseason opener against the New England Patriots.
The Eagles currently face a significant injury crisis, with Saquon Barkley sidelined by a hamstring issue, Tank Bigsby on injured reserve, and Will Shipley out with a foot injury. With only two healthy running backs on the active roster—Dameon Pierce and Carson Steele—the team is expected to sign Jackson to the practice squad, where he’ll join Jaydon Blue.
Jackson’s collegiate career at Arkansas included a standout senior season in 2024, where he ran for 15 touchdowns, adding another layer of potential to the Eagles’ backfield depth chart.
