The NFL has issued a one-game suspension to San Francisco 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw following a headbutt incident involving Seattle Seahawks linebacker Ernest Jones. League officials cited a breach of sportsmanship standards as the reason for the disciplinary action.
Greenlaw is currently slated to miss the upcoming matchup against the Washington Commanders, though he has initiated an appeal process. Should the appeal proceed, the final decision will rest with one of the league's designated hearing officers, specifically Derrick Brooks, Jordy Nelson, Ron Rivera, or James Thrash.
In the interim, the 49ers will rely on Jaden Dugger and Luke Gifford to fill the void at the position. The team hopes for the potential return of Nick Bosa to help stabilize their defensive front while Greenlaw remains sidelined until October 20.
