Karnataka’s young batting lineup delivered a thrilling victory in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy Elite, chasing down Gujarat’s 358 with five wickets in hand. The standout performance came from 17-year-old Anvay Dravid, who anchored the chase with a commanding 151 off 100 balls, guiding his team after partnerships with Dhruv Krishnan and others.
Karnataka, led by Dravid as captain, had earlier posted 418 in their first innings, with Rohith Reddy, Nitish Arya, and Krishnan contributing heavily. Gujarat’s innings was marked by early struggles, with key partnerships from Shaurya Pancholi, Ved Patel, and Sameer Bhandari keeping them afloat before a late collapse set the target.
Meanwhile, Delhi’s Aaryavir Sehwag, son of cricket legend Virender Sehwag, scored a fluent 173 off 143 balls in a losing cause, as his team totaled 289/6. Despite his efforts, Chandigarh’s aggressive batting—led by Rupesh Yadav’s 167—saw them chase down the target in the 42nd over, securing a five-wicket win.
Both young cricketers, Dravid and Sehwag, are captaining their respective 16-member squads in the tournament, which began in Visakhapatnam earlier this month.
