The Los Angeles Dodgers reshuffled their lineup for Game 4 of the NLDS against the Atlanta Braves, moving Shohei Ohtani into the cleanup spot—a position he had never occupied with the team before. The slugger, who has struggled offensively in this series (2-for-10 with one RBI and three strikeouts), has been hampered by right arm and left knee injuries, going without a home run since August 18.
Despite his slump, manager Dave Roberts expressed confidence in Ohtani’s intent at the plate, though the Dodgers’ lineup adjustments also included other key changes: Kiké Hernández remained in the lineup despite facing a right-handed pitcher, while Max Muncy returned to the starting lineup after sitting out the previous two games. Miguel Rojas did not start due to a back issue sustained during Tuesday’s game, while Andy Pages was inserted into the nine-hole after a two-hit performance in Game 3 snapped his 0-for-8 series slump.
The Dodgers now hold a 2-1 series lead, looking to close out the Braves in Atlanta’s Truist Park for a spot in the NLCS.
