A bizarre fielding blunder by Sri Lanka cost Pakistan a potential run-out during the third and final T20I in Rawalpindi. In the 14th over, Arafat Minhas and Sahibzada Farhan ended up at the same end after a mix-up, leaving the striker’s end exposed.
Sri Lankan fielder Sineth Jayawardene’s throw to the wicketkeeper missed, allowing Minhas to escape unscathed and extend Pakistan’s innings. Despite the error, Pakistan’s middle order staged a late recovery, with Farhan anchoring the chase with an unbeaten 76 off 47 balls.
His partnership with Minhas (34* off 20) helped Pakistan post a competitive 168/8, though Sri Lanka secured an eight-wicket win thanks to a dominant 87* from captain Kusal Mendis. The match also saw early wickets from Eshan Malinga and Dasun Shanaka, who finished as Sri Lanka’s leading bowler with 3/31.
Mendis and Jayawardene (38) powered Sri Lanka to victory in 17.1 overs, avoiding a series whitewash.
