Skydance CEO David Ellison has expressed optimism regarding the long-term partnership between his newly merged media conglomerate and the NFL. Following the formal integration of Paramount and Warner Bros.
Discovery, Ellison addressed concerns about a potential change-in-control provision that allows the league to renegotiate or move its broadcast package. While he did not confirm if the NFL has triggered this clause, he emphasized a positive relationship with the organization and expects the collaboration to continue for the foreseeable future.
Ellison noted that the NFL maintains an investment stake in Skydance and indicated that his perspective aligns with that of commissioner Roger Goodell. This sentiment follows comments from Gerry Cardinale, who suggested that renegotiating the broadcast deal in a few years would be more advantageous than an immediate change.
Despite potential shifts in how the league distributes games among networks and streamers by 2030, Ellison remains committed to keeping CBS involved in the NFL broadcast landscape.
