Adelaide Strikers fast bowler Darcie Brown will miss the entire WBBL|12 season after a persistent disc injury prevented her from regaining full fitness. The 23-year-old, who returned from Australia A’s tour of India with the issue, had been considered for a possible comeback mid-season but was ruled out by Cricket Australia following further medical assessments.
Brown’s absence leaves the Strikers without one of their key quick bowlers, with young Eleanor Larosa expected to step up alongside Megan Schutt and Tahlia McGrath, who has shown strong form in recent ODIs against Bangladesh. Meanwhile, Adelaide has secured Anesu Mushangwe for a fourth consecutive season, bolstering their spin options after Jemma Barsby’s departure to Sydney Thunder.
Mushangwe, the first Zimbabwean-born player in WBBL history, was instrumental in Adelaide’s back-to-back championship wins in 2022, claiming 16 wickets in that campaign.
