Dallas Mavericks 2026-27 coach preview: Can Dusty May make the jump?

Dusty May has transitioned to the NBA as the Dallas Mavericks head coach following a successful tenure at Michigan, where he secured a national title with a 37-3 record. His move marks the first direct jump from the college ranks to a professional head coaching role since John Beilein in 2019.

May aims to implement an offensive philosophy centered on spacing and ball movement, though he faces the challenge of adapting this system to a roster that relies heavily on Kyrie Irving for creation. The coach argues that his experience navigating the transfer portal and NIL era has prepared him for the unique demands of managing professional players.
