Cowboys news: Jaishawn Barham to start at middle linebacker, wear green dot

Rookie Jaishawn Barham is set to step into the starting middle linebacker role for the Dallas Cowboys and handle defensive play-calling duties by wearing the green dot helmet in Week 2. The defensive reshuffle follows a hamstring injury to starting linebacker DeMarvion Overshown, which offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer addressed ahead of an NFC East clash with the Washington Commanders.

Dallas is aiming to bounce back after stumbling to an 0-1 start following a 28-20 defeat against the New York Giants in the season opener. The defensive unit under Christian Parker must now rely on the first-year defender to orchestrate the unit against quarterback Jayden Daniels and the Commanders to avoid an 0-2 deficit.
