The Tampa Bay Buccaneers handed the Dallas Cowboys their second straight loss in Week 5, ending a 0-5 skid with a 24-16 victory at AT&T Stadium. The win kept the Bucs’ playoff hopes alive, however slim, after an undrafted rookie quarterback, Jalon Daniels, delivered a breakout performance.
Daniels became the first undrafted rookie since 1967 to complete his first eight passes in a game, leading a 73-yard touchdown drive to set the tone for Tampa Bay’s first win of the season. Meanwhile, the Cowboys’ defense, led by rookie coordinator Christian Parker, continued to struggle, failing to contain an offense that gained a season-high 419 yards.
Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott also faced challenges, unable to overcome Tampa Bay’s pass rush, while the team’s offensive line, including Pro Bowl center Tyler Smith, returned to action after a month-long injury absence. The loss drops Dallas to 2-3 and adds pressure on head coach Todd Bowles, who now has his job security on the line after another disappointing start to the season.
