Cooper Black Recalled, Expected To Make NHL Debut On Panthers Road Trip After Jacob Markstrom Was Hurt During Practice

The Florida Panthers' goaltending situation took an unexpected turn after starting netminder Jacob Markstrom suffered an injury during practice, forcing the team to scramble for a replacement. In response, the Panthers recalled prospect Cooper Black from their minor-league affiliate to make his NHL debut during an upcoming road trip.

The move comes as Florida continues to navigate roster adjustments, having recently recalled forwards Cole Reinhardt and Cole Schwindt from the AHL while sending veteran Sam Lafferty to the Charlotte Checkers. Meanwhile, Panthers star forward Brady Tkachuk has dominated early in the season, earning NHL First Star of the Week honors after a standout week that included multiple hat tricks and a six-goal performance.
