Colorado football rumors: Deion Sanders put on hot seat despite ‘steep’ $26 million buyout

Colorado football’s struggles under Deion Sanders have intensified following another disappointing Big 12 loss, this time a 27-24 defeat to Houston that dropped the Buffaloes to 0-3 in conference play. The program now sits at 2-4 overall, with four consecutive losses, raising serious questions about Sanders’ future despite a reported $26 million buyout clause if he’s released.

Sanders, who joined Colorado in 2023 amid high expectations, has yet to deliver a winning season, compounding concerns after the team’s Pac-12-to-Big 12 transition. The Buffaloes nearly pulled off an upset against Utah but fell short, with Sanders praising the team’s resilience despite a 13-0 halftime deficit.

Quarterback Isaac Wilson echoed that determination, vowing to channel frustration into future performances as Colorado prepares for a critical showdown against Oklahoma State next week. The mounting pressure could force a decision on Sanders’ tenure, with the program’s trajectory hanging in the balance.
