Celtic CEO backs O’Neill despite "painful" week

Celtic chief executive Michael Nicholson has offered his backing to manager Martin O’Neill following a difficult spell for the Glasgow club. The team suffered consecutive losses against Rangers in domestic competition alongside a home defeat to Ferencvaros in the opening match of the Europa League, compounding an earlier Champions League play-off exit against LASK.

Those setbacks led O’Neill to question his position after admitting he contemplated his future.

Nicholson praised the management team's previous efforts and noted that substantial investment had been directed toward recruitment, including acquiring players such as Kasper Hogh and Camilo Duran, as the club aims to rebound in domestic and European fixtures.
