Carse assault investigation dropped by police

Derbyshire Police have concluded their inquiry into an alleged assault involving Brydon Carse without pressing charges. The 31-year-old England seamer had previously been captured on social media being handcuffed outside the Molly Malones venue in Derby during the early morning of August 23, where he was initially detained for suspected drunken and disorderly behavior before being released once officers gathered his details.

Following the episode, which represents another in a sequence of nighttime drinking controversies involving the national men's side over the past twelve months, the Cricket Regulator has commenced its own disciplinary review.

The off-field turmoil prompted team management to pull Carse from England's second Test match against Pakistan, an action that led an exasperated captain Joe Root to address the squad directly. The Durham bowler was subsequently omitted from both the third Test and the limited-overs tour against Sri Lanka, with limited-overs head coach Brendon McCullum stressing that the player must sort out personal matters before any international comeback, while the ECB emphasized the need for a reset period despite his formal availability.

While Carse has represented Durham since the incident, he missed their match versus Worcestershire this week due to an illness.
