Cam Ward held to 140 passing yards in Week 1

Second-year quarterback Cam Ward experienced a difficult start to his season as the Tennessee Titans fell 23-10 against the New York Jets in Week 1. Ward was limited to only 140 passing yards throughout the contest, finding the end zone just once during late-game garbage time.

The disappointing outing came despite high hopes from Titans head coach Robert Saleh and offensive coordinator Brian Daboll, who had structured the offense aiming for Ward to achieve a major second-year leap beyond 4,000 yards.

On the other sideline, Jets quarterback Geno Smith piloted an efficient attack, racking up 215 yards while completing 19 of his 24 pass attempts. Ward had previously rejected critical assessments of his preseason progress, but Tennessee's offense could not generate momentum against a New York defense that had failed to record an interception the prior year.
