Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark defended teammate Kelsey Mitchell after the guard spoke openly about the challenges of playing alongside Clark amid heightened fan scrutiny. During the team’s end-of-season press conference, Clark emphasized her support for Mitchell, who has been a free agent since concluding her record-breaking season.
The two players combined for an average of 47 points per game, the highest-scoring duo in WNBA history, with Mitchell averaging a career-high 24.7 points per contest. Clark also expressed her desire to continue playing with Mitchell, calling her the ideal backcourt partner and vowing the organization would pursue her return.
The Fever, however, fell short in the playoffs, losing in the first round to the Las Vegas Aces in a three-game series.
