Brydon Carse cleared as police drop assault investigation that cost England quick his place in Pakistan Test series

Derbyshire Police have officially discontinued their inquiry into an alleged physical attack in Derby, meaning Brydon Carse will avoid all criminal charges. The 31-year-old fast bowler had previously been briefly held for suspected drunk and disorderly conduct outside Molly Malone's bar following a night out celebrating Durham's 338-run County Championship triumph against Derbyshire.

Although law enforcement released him shortly after that initial detention, an inquiry into separate assault allegations commenced, though Carse was never placed under arrest for that matter.

Despite the closure of the case, the fallout significantly disrupted Carse's international summer. England had granted him leave to feature in Durham's Division Two promotion campaign before pulling him entirely from the Pakistan Test series once the situation emerged.
