Bruising F1 2026 will not be the end for Russell - Wolff

Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff maintains faith that George Russell will recover from a tough 2026 Formula 1 season to eventually secure a world championship. Russell began the year widely tipped to take the drivers' title, but his current deficit has put that goal out of reach for this year.

With only nine Grands Prix left on the calendar, Russell occupies second place in the standings, trailing Mercedes colleague Kimi Antonelli by 81 points. Antonelli's commanding form puts the 20-year-old on the verge of claiming his very first championship trophy.
