During the opening matchup of the National League division series, a ninth-inning fly ball hit by Ty France of the San Diego Padres struck part of the overhead structure at American Family Field and fell directly into the hands of Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Jackson Chourio, converting what should have been a two-run go-ahead home run into an ordinary fly out. Following the fortunate defensive play, Brewers skipper Pat Murphy suggested that the lucky break was influenced by the presence of legendary broadcaster Bob Uecker, who passed away last year after commentating for the franchise across fifty-four seasons.
Milwaukee secured the top record in the majors with one hundred three wins and fifty-nine losses during the regular season.
