Breanna Stewart's 34 points leads the Liberty in Game 1, and pushes the top-seeded Lynx to the brink

Breanna Stewart delivered a stellar playoff performance on Sunday, racking up 34 points and 12 rebounds to guide the New York Liberty past the top-seeded Minnesota Lynx 91-75 in the opening matchup of their best-of-three series. Stewart also contributed six assists, two steals, and two blocks while shooting 11 of 18, often defended by her former college teammate Napheesa Collier.

Nia Brodie paced the Lynx with 16 points off the bench, and Kayla McBride added 14 points.

Following this victory, New York returns home to host Game 2 on Tuesday with a chance to sweep the series and eliminate Minnesota, which must secure a win to force a decisive Game 3 back at Target Center. Collier and Natasha Howard both fouled out for the Lynx during the contest, while rookie Olivia Miles finished her postseason debut with 11 points and one assist.
