Denver Broncos cornerback Pat Surtain II and wide receiver Pat Bryant both suffered ankle injuries during Sunday’s loss to the San Francisco 49ers, but initial MRI results have provided relief for the team. Surtain II, who exited the game after a non-contact ankle injury, is expected to miss approximately two weeks, according to league sources.
Meanwhile, Bryant, who was carted off the field after an awkward knee/ankle twist, will also be sidelined for a short-term period, though the exact duration remains under review. Both players avoided more severe injuries, which would have dealt a significant blow to the Broncos’ already struggling secondary and passing game.
With Surtain II out, rookie Jahdae Barron—who stepped in during the game and made several key plays—will likely earn increased playing time, offering an opportunity to prove his readiness at the starting level. The Broncos’ depth at wide receiver will also be tested, as reserves Troy Franklin, Marvin Mims Jr., and Lil’Jordan Humphrey will fill in for Bryant in the coming weeks.
The team’s cornerback and receiver units, already dealing with inconsistency, will face early-season challenges without their starters.
