Bizarre ‘elevator music’ playing in middle of Peacock’s Yankees-Red Sox broadcast had fans baffled

During the fifth inning of Tuesday's Wild Card matchup resulting in a 9-0 victory for the New York Yankees, an unexpected instrumental track played over the streaming coverage provided by Peacock. As pitcher Cam Schlittler faced batter Nick Sogard and commentator Jason Benetti detailed the turnaround of the Boston squad, the background audio mixed awkwardly with standard on-field noises.

While the companion broadcast on NBC remained unaffected, viewers at home took to social media to express confusion and amusement over the strange audio mishap. Coverage of the series continues with the upcoming second game in The Bronx, where Max Fried is scheduled to take the mound as the Yankees attempt to sweep the postseason series.
