Bills sign defensive back to practice squad with ties to Jim Leonhard

The Buffalo Bills have added defensive back A.J. Woods to their practice squad ahead of their Week 5 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams.

Woods, an undrafted free agent, brings a standout athletic profile to the team, measuring 5’10” and 187 pounds with impressive physical measurements from the 2024 Pittsburgh Pro Day, including a 4.40-second 40-yard dash, a 37.5-inch vertical leap, and a 6.70-second three-cone drill time. His NFL experience includes stints with the Commanders, Eagles, and Falcons, where he primarily played in the slot during preseason games.

Woods also shares a Super Bowl-winning connection with Bills safety Chauncey Gardner-Johnson, having been teammates on the 2024 Philadelphia Eagles squad that defeated the Chiefs in the championship game. The move pushes the Bills over their practice-squad limit, as no corresponding roster adjustment has been made yet.
