Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark stepping down after college football season ends

Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark has announced his departure from the conference, with his final day scheduled for January 31, 2027. Yormark, who transitioned to the role from Roc Nation in 2022, intends to pursue professional opportunities outside of the collegiate athletics landscape.

The conference board is initiating a search for his successor immediately. During his tenure, Yormark oversaw a significant expansion of the league, growing the membership to 16 institutions.

This growth included the addition of BYU, Cincinnati, Central Florida, and Houston in 2023, followed by Utah, Colorado, Arizona, and Arizona State the following year.
