Notre Dame vs. Navy game location 2026: Why college football rivalry is being played in Foxborough

The long-standing college football series between Notre Dame and Navy is heading to a new venue this weekend. The two programs will face off at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, marking the first time the Fighting Irish have played at the home of the New England Patriots.

While the rivalry has historically rotated between South Bend and various East Coast cities like Baltimore, this matchup adds a new location to the series history. The teams have met nearly every year since 1927, with the exception of a cancellation in 2020 due to the global pandemic.
