India has named its T20I and India A squads for the upcoming New Zealand tour, with veteran fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar making a highly anticipated return to the international setup after a four-year absence. Kumar, who last played a T20I against New Zealand in 2022, headlines a pace attack that also includes Arshdeep Singh, Mayank Yadav, and Prince Yadav.
His selection follows a standout IPL campaign this year, where he took 28 wickets, and adds crucial experience to India’s bowling lineup as they prepare for a five-match T20I series starting October 22 in Christchurch. Shreyas Iyer will lead the side, with Tilak Varma as his deputy, while key batters like Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, and teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi have also been included in the squad.
The India A team, meanwhile, features established names such as Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, and Rishabh Pant, with Dhruv Jurel named as captain. The side will face New Zealand A in three multi-day matches, beginning on October 24 in Lincoln.
Pant’s participation remains conditional on his fitness, while the BCCI has confirmed that squads for the upcoming ODI and Test series will be announced separately at a later date.
