The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has intervened to resolve the ongoing crisis in Arunachal Pradesh cricket, where the state had forfeited its opening Ranji Trophy match against Nagaland and failed to field teams in multiple domestic tournaments due to a legal dispute between two factions of the Arunachal Cricket Association (ACA). The conflict, pending before the Guwahati High Court’s Itanagar Bench, threatened to derail the state’s participation in the Ranji Trophy, Col.
C.K. Nayudu Trophy, Senior Women’s T20 Trophy, and Vijay Merchant Trophy this season.
To address the issue, the BCCI has organized independent selection trials for both men’s and women’s teams across all age groups, appointing a three-member panel led by former Assam player Satya Gopal Chakraborty, with M. Khairul Jamal Majumdar serving as the convener.
The panel, which includes Jayanta Chowdhury and Deep Bora, will oversee merit-based trials to assemble squads without external interference, ensuring players can compete in the ongoing domestic season. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia emphasized that the Board’s priority is protecting the players’ interests, noting that the legal dispute had left teams without support staff or proper selection processes until now.
