BCCI confident of Asia Cup trophy ‘landing’ in Mumbai after stand-off with Mohsin Naqvi: ‘No timeline’

Following the 95th Annual General Meeting in Mumbai, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia asserted that both the men's and women's Asia Cup trophies will ultimately arrive at the board's Wankhede Stadium headquarters, despite offering no specific date for their delivery. The silverware remains housed at the Asian Cricket Council offices in Dubai after both Indian squads declined to collect their prizes from ACC president Mohsin Naqvi, who additionally serves as the Pakistan Cricket Board chairman and Pakistan's interior minister.

Most recently, Harmanpreet Kaur's team skipped the post-match ceremony upon capturing the Women's T20 Asia Cup because Naqvi was on the podium, replicating an identical boycott staged by the Indian men's side the prior year.

Saikia reiterated that bypassing the ceremony was a deliberate institutional choice that had been signaled to the ACC beforehand due to domestic sentiment, particularly after relations between the rival nations soured following the Pahalgam terror attack. Instead of attending the main presentation where Naqvi handed runners-up prize money to Sri Lanka, the Indian women arranged a private medal event where Saikia and vice-president Rajeev Shukla gave Nandni Sharma a fielding honor.
