The Bangladesh Cricket Board has officially brought on Malibongwe Maketa as the assistant coach for the men's national side. The experienced South African mentor will hold the post until November 2028, filling the vacancy left by Mohammad Salahuddin, who has transitioned to head the board's High Performance Unit.
Maketa's previous resume includes stints heading South Africa A, the Under-19 squad, and the national academy, alongside working with the senior group during the 2019 World Cup and guiding South Africa Emerging to a CSA One-Day Cup Division 2 crown. He is scheduled to meet up with the squad in the United Arab Emirates to prepare for an upcoming one-off Test against Afghanistan and a triangular one-day international series involving Afghanistan and Zimbabwe.
