Ducati competitor Pecco Bagnaia sustained a foot injury following a violent crash during the sprint contest at the Qatar Grand Prix. The multi-time title holder initially climbed into second place before slipping to fifth, where teammate Fermin Aldeguer collided with his machine at the sixteenth corner.
The massive impact triggered a heavy highside that left Bagnaia momentarily unconscious before medical personnel arrived at the runoff area. Medical personnel subsequently identified a double fracture within his right foot during an initial checkup, prompting a transfer to Doha Hospital to weigh surgical options.
Meanwhile, Aldeguer received a double long lap penalty for the incident, which he completed prior to finishing the restarted event in eleventh position.
