The Atlanta Dream’s path to the WNBA Finals took an unexpected turn after a scheduling conflict threatened to leave fans without proper seating for their home games. Originally set to host Games 3 and 4 at the Gateway Centre in College Park—a 3,500-seat arena—the team faced criticism over the limited capacity, which would have sharply restricted attendance for championship play.
However, after league adjustments and venue negotiations, the Dream secured a solution: both games will now be played at State Farm Arena, home of the NBA’s Atlanta Hawks. The move, announced by Hawks CEO and Dream owner Tony Ressler, was driven by collective conviction to ensure a fuller experience for supporters, with Games 3 and 4 rescheduled to accommodate the larger venue’s capacity.
The shift comes as the Dream prepare to face the Golden State Valkyries in a best-of-seven series beginning this weekend, with the first two games already underway.
