Astros' big bats fail to come through as White Sox put finishing touches on wild-card sweep

The Chicago White Sox completed a sweep of their American League wild-card series against the Houston Astros, capitalizing on early pitching struggles in both contests. Hunter Brown failed to complete the opening frame in Game 2, yielding four runs before the Houston bats responded with solo shots from Jeremy Peña, Cam Smith, and Jose Altuve.

Later in the contest, relief pitching successfully defused a bases-loaded threat orchestrated by Yordan Alvarez, ensuring the White Sox closed out the series victory.
