Gujarat Cricket Association has made a notable signing ahead of the 2026-27 domestic season by welcoming Delhi Capitals star Ashutosh Sharma to their squad. The aggressive middle-order batter, known for his explosive T20 performances, joins Gujarat after departing from the Railways cricket team.
Sharma holds the record for the fastest T20 fifty by an Indian batter, achieving the milestone in just 11 balls while playing for Railways in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. His IPL career spans three seasons, accumulating 564 runs across 26 innings with an impressive average strike rate of 168.86, including two half-centuries and key contributions in death overs for Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals.
Gujarat has also secured the services of leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi and fast bowler Ashok Sharma, both originally from Rajasthan, to bolster their white-ball lineup. The move aims to strengthen Gujarat’s batting depth, with Sharma’s aggressive style expected to add significant firepower to the team’s order.
Gujarat Cricket Association secretary Anil Patel confirmed the signing, emphasizing the team’s focus on enhancing their white-ball cricket capabilities for the upcoming season.
