As his 84th birthday approaches, Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones has completed a deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers to acquire cornerback Joey Porter Jr. In exchange for the defensive back, Dallas sent a 2027 sixth-round draft pick and a 2028 second-round draft pick to Pittsburgh.
Porter has totaled 41 starts, 31 pass deflections, three interceptions, and 165 tackles since entering the league as a second-round selection in the 2024 NFL Draft. The acquisition arrives as Dallas adjusts its defense to a 3-4 base scheme under first-year coordinator Christian Parker following previous additions like safety Caleb Downs.
Porter sat out the initial three weeks of the current campaign amid contract disputes and a reported back issue, and he was ruled out for an upcoming matchup against the Cleveland Browns prior to the trade.
