Arthur Fils takes significant step towards ATP Finals qualification without playing a match in Brussels

Arthur Fils has advanced to the quarter-finals of the European Open without hitting a ball, as his scheduled opponent Jaume Munar withdrew due to injury. This unexpected progression grants the Frenchman 50 ranking points, significantly bolstering his pursuit of a spot at the 2026 ATP Finals.

He currently sits just five points behind Frances Tiafoe in the race to Turin, with several high-profile competitors also vying for the remaining qualification positions. Fils is slated to begin his tournament campaign on October 23 against either Alex Michelsen, Remy Bertola, or David Goffin.
