Alexandra Eala turns the Asian Games into another stage for her rapid rise in tennis

Alex Eala advanced to the semifinals of the Asian Games in Nagoya after defeating Joanna Garland in the quarterfinals. Eala secured a 7-5, 6-0 victory on September 30, guaranteeing herself at least a bronze medal in the women's singles competition.

Prior to this match, she earned a straight-set win over Patcharin Cheapchandej. By opting to compete in Japan rather than the China Open, Eala risked a WTA fine in order to pursue a potential Olympic quota for Los Angeles 2028.
