Aline Pereira’s quest to secure a UFC contract fell short in her debut for the UFC Apex’s *DWCS Season 10* finale, where she faced off against rising Swedish prospect Smilla Sundell. Pereira, who had reinvented herself after a brief MMA hiatus by winning the inaugural women’s flyweight title in *Karate Combat* (3-0 record, including two knockouts), moved up to bantamweight for the opportunity.
Though she displayed improved striking defense and kept the fight competitive, Sundell’s relentless forward pressure, combined with her striking volume and size advantage, proved decisive. The Swedish fighter, a Muay Thai prodigy who became the youngest world champion in ONE Championship history at 17, won via unanimous decision (29-28 across all judges’ scorecards) on October 13, 2026.
Pereira had entered the bout with a 3-2 MMA record, having returned to the sport in late 2025 after a rocky 1-2 start in 2022–23, but could not overcome Sundell’s dominance in the cage despite landing clean left hooks and jabs of her own. Sundell, who spent 2024–25 refining her grappling and wrestling, now enters the UFC with a striking power already showcased in her first two MMA fights—both ended via TKO—and a physical profile (5’10”, 135 lbs, 69-inch reach) tailored for elite bantamweight competition.
