Abhishek Sharma set a new benchmark in T20 internationals on Sunday in Indore, becoming the quickest batsman to amass 2,000 runs by facing just 1,024 deliveries. He eclipsed Suryakumar Yadav's previous mark of 1,164 balls and moved ahead of Aaron Finch, who needed 1,283 balls for the same tally.
The record came as Sharma smashed 69 runs from 30 balls, hitting six fours and five sixes before Shamar Springer bowled him out. His innings helped India recover after Sanju Samson fell for three, and the partnership with Ishan Kishan added momentum before West Indies turned the tide later in the third T20 of the five‑match series.
