A.J. Ewing lifts three-run shot, Ronny Mauricio homers twice in Mets' 7-1 win over Nationals

The New York squad secured a 7-1 victory over Washington on Saturday afternoon at a venue affected by weather delays and strong winds. Pitcher Jonah Tong delivered nine strikeouts across a strong outing, while the relief corps maintained control by retiring sixteen consecutive opposing batters.

Offensively, the team broke through in the seventh frame when back-to-back long balls from A.J. Ewing and Ronny Mauricio opened the scoring. Mauricio added a multi-run blast later in the contest, alongside multi-hit contributions from Carson Benge and Juan Soto before Soto exited due to an injury.
