76ers deny Joel Embiid's push to play in back-to-back games, opt to rest him due to injury management vs. Pistons

The Philadelphia 76ers have declined Joel Embiid's request to play in consecutive games, opting to rest him for Sunday's matchup against the Detroit Pistons. This decision comes despite the center posting a triple-double in Saturday's 127-116 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks, which extended Philadelphia's season record to 3-0.

The organization cited right plantar fasciitis management as the reason for his absence, prioritizing long-term health over short-term availability. Embiid had publicly urged fans to pressure the team into allowing him to take the court, signaling his desire to contribute more heavily early in the 2026-27 campaign.

However, the front office maintained a firm stance on load management, ensuring the star would not be active for the back-to-back contest.
