The Tennessee Titans enter Week 5 with a 0-4 record, facing the equally winless Houston Texans in a matchup where both teams have struggled mightily. The Titans’ offense, however, has shown flashes of promise, particularly from rookie wide receiver Carnell Tate, who delivered a standout performance in Week 4 with nine catches for 145 yards.
His ability to sustain that momentum will be critical, especially against a Texans secondary led by cornerback Derek Stingley Jr., one of the NFL’s top coverage defenders despite his team’s overall defensive woes. The Titans’ offensive line, ranked fifth in the league in pass protection, has been a bright spot, allowing just six sacks in four games so far.
Left tackle Dan Moore Jr. will be under particular scrutiny, as he’ll need to anchor the line against Houston’s formidable pass-rush trio of Danielle Hunter, Jadeveon Clowney, and Will Anderson Jr.
On defense, Titans cornerback Alontae Taylor will likely be tasked with containing Texans star receiver Nico Collins, who returned from injury in Week 4 with seven catches, 118 yards, and two touchdowns. Taylor’s performance in one-on-one coverage will be pivotal, as the Titans’ secondary has been inconsistent this season.
With both teams at the bottom of the standings, this game could serve as a turning point, but the Titans will need standout efforts from Tate, Moore Jr., and Taylor to pull off the upset against a Texans squad that has dominated most of its opponents so far.
