The San Francisco 49ers improved to a three and zero record following a thirty-six to thirty triumph over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday afternoon. Despite compiling four hundred thirty-seven yards of total offense and holding a commanding advantage after intermission, the home side nearly let the contest slip away as the opposition mounted a furious second-half comeback.
Brock Purdy starred for the victors by completing fifteen of twenty-seven pass attempts for two hundred ninety-seven yards and four touchdowns. George Kittle caught six passes for eighty-two yards and two scores, while Deebo Samuel contributed an eighty-yard hook-and-ladder touchdown on the opening possession.
Christian McCaffrey added two scores and over one hundred total yards, and Jordan Watkins notched two catches for sixty yards. The defensive unit struggled after the break, however, as Jacoby Brissett guided the visitors on multiple lengthy drives and kept the ball for over thirty-eight minutes of game time.
Jeremiyah Love also chipped in ninety rushing yards for Arizona. Despite the early success, injuries are mounting for San Francisco, with Mike Evans suffering a rib problem early in the matchup.
