3 Indian cricketers who could benefit from 2026-27 domestic season

October 7, 2026

The upcoming 2026-27 domestic cricket campaign in India commences on October 11, 2026, offering athletes an avenue to push for higher honors through strong performances. Three players draw particular attention heading into the Ranji Trophy schedule.

Shivang Kumar, a twenty-four-year-old left-arm wrist spinner, played six matches for Sunrisers Hyderabad during the 2026 Indian Premier League, claiming five wickets at an economy rate of 8.9 after being acquired for thirty lakh rupees. His variations troubled batters during the tournament, and he previously travelled to Sri Lanka as a net bowler alongside the senior national Test group.

Mukesh Choudhary, a thirty-year-old left-arm medium pace bowler representing Maharashtra, enters the campaign holding a record of sixty wickets from seventeen first-class appearances at a 29.60 average. Following a stint with Chennai Super Kings as a replacement for Khaleel Ahmed, he recently picked up five wickets for seventy-eight runs in the opening innings for Rest of India against Jammu and Kashmir in the Irani Cup.

Sarfaraz Khan, a batter from Mumbai, scored 147 runs across five matches at a 171 strike rate during the 2026 Indian Premier League following a purchase at seventy-five lakh rupees. Holding an average of 63.69 in first-class cricket, he has represented India in six Test matches and recently rejoined the senior squad as a replacement for an injured Sai Sudharsan.
