‘Won’t Make a Shred of Difference’: Padraig Harrington Backs Controversial Golf Rule With Blunt Assessment

Padraig Harrington recently shared his perspective on the upcoming universal golf ball rollback scheduled for implementation in 2028 for professionals and 2030 for amateurs. The Irish golfer argued that the change will not impact player satisfaction because personal enjoyment is rooted in relative expectations rather than absolute distance metrics.

He suggested that golfers will adjust their internal benchmarks to the new equipment standards within a short timeframe. The governing bodies, including the USGA and R&A, initially proposed the rollback to address increasing driving distances and preserve the integrity of historic venues.
