‘What the war has done to me inside’: Ukraine’s Svitolina announces separation from Monfils

Tennis star Elina Svitolina has publicly announced her separation from her husband and fellow player, Gaël Monfils. In a social media statement, the Ukrainian athlete explained that the psychological burden of the conflict in her homeland forced her to seek personal healing outside of their relationship.

The couple tied the knot in 2021 and share a four-year-old daughter named Skai, whom they intend to prioritize moving forward. Meanwhile, the announcement arrives just as Monfils prepares to withdraw from his intended final professional appearance at the upcoming Paris Masters tournament.
