Titans' fresh start produces one of their most embarrassing losses yet

Despite an offseason overhaul featuring a revamped roster, refreshed logo, updated uniforms, and a new head coach facing off against his former squad, Tennessee stumbled out of the gate with an alarming 23-10 defeat against New York in Week 1. The contest marked the final season opener held inside the venue where the inaugural Titans team launched an unforgettable Super Bowl run, yet the home group was dominated from start to finish.

The setback handed New York its most lopsided victory and first wire-to-wire triumph dating back to 2024, prompting one exasperated supporter to publicly demand the return of Ken Whisenhunt, who accumulated an 8-19 record during his tenure from 2014 to 2015.

Very little went right for Tennessee beyond the promising play of first-year linebacker Anthony Hill Jr. That came as a surprise given high expectations for the defensive line, where Robert Saleh was anticipated to orchestrate an imposing group anchored by star tackle Jeffery Simmons.

Although the front was heavily fortified through trades for Jermaine Johnson II and Solomon Thomas, free-agent additions John Franklin-Myers and Jordan Elliott, and the drafting of Keldric Faulk, the revamped unit failed to stem the tide.
