“Teams Fall Apart”: Jayden Maiava Makes Locker Room Admission as Desman Stephens Incident Raises Doubts on USC Culture

Following a 41-27 defeat against Oregon that marked their first loss of the season, USC quarterback Jayden Maiava defended his squad's unity by stating he has never witnessed a tighter group. However, head coach Lincoln Riley and the program faced broader scrutiny due to a controversial second-quarter incident involving linebacker Desman Stephens II.

Stephens delivered a dangerous helmet-to-helmet hit on sliding opposing quarterback Dante Moore, resulting in an ejection after Moore required a cart to leave the field. Critics including Colin Cowherd immediately attacked the Trojans' team culture over Stephens appearing to celebrate on the sideline while Moore was being attended to, though Riley stated he never witnessed the celebration.
