Following months of widespread speculation and a contentious offseason contract dispute, the Pittsburgh Steelers have agreed to deal cornerback Joey Porter Jr. to the Dallas Cowboys.
In exchange, Pittsburgh receives a sixth-round draft choice for 2027 along with a second-rounder for 2028. The defensive back previously declined a multi-million dollar proposal from his former club for the 2026 campaign, ultimately missing the initial three games of the season while inactive.
Dallas acquires defensive reinforcement as the organization manages a hamstring issue sidelining starting defensive back Cobie Durant ahead of a matchup against the Texans. The franchise currently sits lower in the league rankings for defensive scoring allowed, third-down conversions, and red-zone stops.
This transaction continues a pattern of player movement between the two organizations, following prior deals involving George Pickens and Broderick Jones.
